    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you have all had a great week. It has been a very busy week in school with Parents and Carers Evening as well as Ofsted. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Ofsted – As you are aware, we had Ofsted inspecting the school during Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We would like to say thank you to all the parents and carers who completed the Parent View questionnaire and those who helped their children complete the pupil questionnaire. We were incredibly proud of our pupils during the inspection; they were the stars of the show! We would also like to thank all of our teaching staff for their hard work and dedication this week. We will share our report with you once it has been finalised.
    • Autism Acceptance Week – 28th March to 3rd April is World Autism Acceptance Week. For more information, please see here.
    • Map Day – On Thursday children across the school took part in Map Day where they practised their map skills in a practical way. These sessions were definitely made easier by the beautiful weather.
    • ARH Easter Egg Hunt – Keep your eyes peeled for further information about our ARH Easter Egg Hunt starting on Monday 4th April. Children will be sent home with all the details including how to enter and the prizes available soon. The final date and time for entry will be Thursday 7th April at 4pm. All entries need to be handed in to the school office.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Y4 Greek Day – Year 4 will be taking part in a Greek Day on Friday 1st April. For more information, please see the letter here.
    • French Day – On Friday 8th April we will be celebrating French Day. For more information please see here.
    • Year 3 Skegness – Year 3 Skegness visit is taking place on Tuesday 5th April. The deadline for payment is Wednesday 30th March. Please see a copy of the letter here.
    • Easter Holidays – The school will close for the Easter Holidays on Friday 8th April at the end of the school day and will open on Monday 25th April.

    Reminders:

    • Easter Holiday Activities We have been informed of Easter Holiday activities for pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals.     • SEND coffee morning – Mrs Watson would like to invite parents and carers into school for a SEND coffee morning on Wednesday 30th March. More information can be found here. If you are able to attend please click here.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    It has been a very busy week in school, as you will see by the amount of notices below. We hope you have had a great week and enjoy the weekend in the Spring sunshine. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Year 6 Football Team A big well done to the Year 6 Boys Football Team who won the regional competition on Wednesday. The boys will now represent Leicester City at a nationwide football tournament in May at Watford F.C's Stadium: Vicarage Road. They have made the school very proud.
    • Red Nose Day Today it was lovely to see the children in their own clothes to celebrate Red Nose Day. We would like to thank you all for your generosity. We have managed to raise over £690. Thank you.
    • Climate change video Adam Pepper has created an amazing climate change film starring our very own pupils in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. Click the link to have a look at our A.R.H. film here.
    • Sign Language Week – we have been informed that 14th to 20th March is Sign Language Week by the British Deaf Association. Please click the link for more information and for activities you can take part in. Home - Sign Language Week
    • Household Support Fund The public self-referral application to the Household Support Fund has now closed. However, if you would like support from this scheme please contact Mrs Harvey to make an appointment to make the application. We can continue to make applications for parents/carers until further notice. If you arefacing immediate food or fuel crisis, please contact Mrs Harvey on 0116 262 4003. Mrs Harvey will also be available on Parents and Carers Evening (Tuesday 22nd March) should you want to speak with her.
    • Easter Holiday Activities We have been informed of Easter Holiday activities for pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals.     • Parenting Smart Resource  Mental health charity Place2Be have recently developed "Parenting SMART"  - a free digital resource available for all parents to help them with the journey of parenting and supporting the well-being of their child.     • Height and Weight check – The school nurse team unfortunately had to cancel their clinic this week for those pupils in Y6 and Reception that missed the height and weight checks. We have been notified that the new date is Tuesday 22nd March in the afternoon.
    • Map Day – Children will be taking part in map activities on Thursday 24th March.
    • Y4 Greek Day – Year 4 will be taking part in a Greek Day on Friday 1st April.
    • French Day – On Friday 8th April we will be celebrating French Day. For more information please see here.
    • Parents Evening – Parents’ and Carers’ Evening is taking place on Tuesday 22nd March and Thursday 24th March to discuss your child’s mid-year report which will be coming to you on Friday 18th March. Please see the guides for in-person or virtual to understand our expectations.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Latest news:

    • Condover Hall – This week Year 6 attended their residential at Condover Hall. The children had a wonderful time completing many adventurous activities, including archery and high ropes. Please see our Twitter feed for some pictures.
    • International Women’s Day – Eight pupils in Key Stage 2 had the opportunity on Tuesday to attend various workshops at the King Power Stadium to celebrate International Women’s Day. The pupils had a brilliant time and were a real credit to the school.
    • Light Up Leicester – It was fantastic to see our Year 3 pupils’ work showcased in the Light-Up Leicester exhibit over the weekend. Click here to see the pictures.
    • Year 4 Architect Day – On Thursday pupils in Year 4 had an exciting visit from an architect and were using the information gained to design and make their own buildings. Click here to see the pictures.
    • Year 3 Talent Show – Ms Kedzior and Mrs Colley thoroughly enjoyed judging the Year 3 Talent Show today; they were very impressed by the amount of talent in Year 3. This was a lovely opportunity to have real-life experience of a talent show as this features so heavily in the current Year 3 novel.
    • SEND coffee morning – Mrs Watson would like to invite parents and carers into school for a SEND coffee morning on Wednesday 30th March. More information can be found here.
    • Support for Refugees and People in Crisis – Leicester City Council have made us aware of a central support page where you can find out how you can help support refugees and people in crisis. For more information please click here. As a school, we are donating our surplus food bank items to further support people in need.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Height and Weight Checks The Nursing team are coming in Tuesday 15th March, to measure the heights and weights of any children that were missed in Reception and Year 6.
    • Science and engineering week – Next week in school pupils will be participating in activities around National Science and Engineering Week.
    • Reception – On Thursday 17th March Reception pupils are having a Captivating Creature session. Please see the letter here for more information. The deadline for payment is Wednesday 16th March.
    • Parents Evening – Parents’ and Carers’ Evening is taking place on Tuesday 22nd March and Thursday 24th March to discuss your child’s mid-year report which will be coming to you on Friday 18th March. The deadline to book your appointment is Friday 18th March at 9am. Appointment booking can be done through the email previously sent or alternatively please contact the school office who can help you.
    • Red Nose Day – We will be celebrating Comic Relief on Friday 18th March. For more information, please see the letter here.

    Reminders:

    • School grounds/ property – Please can parents and carers remember to leave site promptly at the end of the day. Can you also ensure pupils aren’t using school property unsupervised either as we are finding property damaged. If we find who is damaging school property, we will take the appropriate action.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you have all had a good week. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • World Book Day – On Thursday children across the school took part in World Book Day activities. It was wonderful to see the children celebrating that we are all readers. The staff also got into the World Book Day theme; please see our staff here. We would also like to thank parents and carers by supporting the scholastic book fair.
    • Aspirations Week – This week children have also been thinking about their future jobs and careers. Children in Key Stage 2 took part in a careers fair whilst children in Reception and Key Stage 1 had some visitors to their classrooms. We would like to say a special thank you to the parents and carers who volunteered their time to come into school to talk to the children, please see some photos here.
    • Grasshoppers/ Caterpillars Places – We are still accepting application forms for our 15 hour and 30 hour Nurseries for children who will be turning 3 years of age before 31st August 2022. If you have any queries or would like an application form and are not able to collect from the school office, please contact Keri Ryan via email kryan@aldermanrichardhallam.leicester.sch.uk   
    • Workplace Parking Levy – Please see here for information regarding the proposed workplace parking levy. If this is successful it will impact greatly not only on the children’s future education but also on the local residential area. Due to the following:
      • The levy will be funded directly from the school budget, thus impact on the education of the children.
      • Increased number of cars parking on the surrounding streets.
      • Recruitment of excellent school staff could be affected.

    • Extinct Corridor – Strange sights have been seen down the Year 3 and Year 6 corridor! There have been dinosaurs spotted – please see a video here.
    • Light Up Leicester – We have been informed about an exciting free exhibition around Leicester which will be taking place between 3rd – 6th March 6pm to 10pm. For more information, please click on the link Light Up Leicester 2022. We are proud to let you know that pupils from Year 3 will have their work displayed as part of the Light Up Leicester event this weekend, please see their work here. Well done Year 3.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Y6 SATs Parent Meeting – Y6 Parents and Carers are invited to attend the upcoming SATs meeting on Monday 7th March at 3.45pm.
    • Y6 Condover Hall – Children in Year 6 will be going on their residential to Condover Hall next week Wednesday to Friday. We hope they have a wonderful, adventurous time!
    • Y4 Greek Architecture Workshop – Year 4 will be taking part in a Greek Architecture Workshop on Thursday 10th March before taking part in a Greek Day on Friday 1st April.

    Reminders:

    • Pupil Premium – Have your financial circumstances changed recently? If so, then you may be eligible for Pupil Premium! The pupil premium grant is extra funding that the government gives to schools to support and raise the achievement of underprivileged pupils. The amount a school receives depends on the number of pupils eligible for free school meals. Please click here to find out more information about Pupil Premium and how you can apply online.
    • Supporting Reading at Home – On our website we have some handy tips for supporting reading at home as well as information about phonics. Please see here for information about how we teach phonics; here for the phonic sounds and here for help with reading at home.
    • Bikes on site – Please can pupils and parents lock their bikes up in the correct designated places.
