Latest news:
- Swim Teacher offer – Over the coming months, Leicester City Council is planning to grow its evening and weekend ‘learn to swim’ provision across the city and will be offering a training course in April to interested residents of Leicester to train up to become a swimming teacher, with a view to them starting work in May. If you are interested, please see the poster here.
- Year 2 Parent Information - The Year 2 teachers have created useful videos to inform parents and carers about end of Year 2 Expectations and SATS Information. Please take some time to watch these videos in order to further support your child at home. If you have any questions, then please speak to your child’s teacher.
- Aspirations’ Week – This year Aspirations’ Week will take place in the first week of Spring 2. It would be amazing if we could have a wide variety of speakers to come in and talk to our pupils about their jobs. If you have any friends or family who are willing to speak to our pupils about their jobs and their skills, please contact Mrs Nanda to make further arrangements by Wednesday 9th February. If a visit to the school is not possible, a video recording could be another option.
Upcoming dates:
- History Day – Friday 4th February 2022, pupils will get the chance to explore what the lives of pupils were like. Please see the letters here (EYFS) and here (KS1/KS2).
- Y4 swimming – The letters for Arctic Foxes and Polar Bears swimming have been sent out; it is also possible to view the letters here or here (pp). Swimming will start on Monday 21st February.
- Y3 Anglo Saxons Day – On Friday 11th February 2022, Year 3 will be having an Anglo-Saxons day as part of their Smashing Saxons topic. Please see the letter here.
Reminders:
- Parking – Please remember to park courteously around the school site when dropping off or collecting children. Please don’t block residents’ driveways. Remember that you cannot park on the zig-zag lines and that parking restrictions are in place to keep children and our local community safe.
- Kedzior Award - We are continuing to encourage all children to volunteer and give back outside of school. This can include helping around the home, helping others or volunteering in the community. Pupils/parents can keep a log and send this information to Mrs Nanda or put it on Seesaw. Remember, volunteering is one of the five ways to wellbeing. The nominations need to be in by Monday 7th February. Winners will receive a Headteacher's pick of the pot and a class treat of the winner's choice!

We hope you have all had a good week. The half-term is in full-swing and the children are working very hard in their new topics. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.
Latest news:
- Year 3 Saxons’ Workshop – Year 3 had a wonderful time on Thursday in their Saxon assembly and workshop. The children were really engaged and thought about what life was like during this time.
- Reception Police Visit – Children in Reception had a visit from a local police officer on Thursday and learnt about what the police do as part of their ‘What’s Your Emergency?’ topic.
- Lunch Menu Adjustments – The kitchen team would like to explain that due to some delivery difficulties the lunch menu may be subject to change. We will endeavour to let parents and carers know, when we can, regarding any menu adjustments. The kitchen team would like to apologise for this and appreciate your understanding as this is out of our control.
- Online Sexual Harassment – We have been made aware of a new guide for parents regarding talking to your child about online sexual harassment. Here are some details to help support your child before they reach secondary school. There is a guide and poster.
- Spring Half Term Food Offer – The city council is working with Samworth Brothers to support families with food during the February half-term. There are 19 pop up venues across the city that will give parents of vulnerable children the opportunity to collect food for the half-term. If your child receives Free School Meals, or you feel you would benefit from this offer, please see this information sheet and this link for more details. Parents need to register with a venue by 25th January, using the form link on the information sheet. Food vouchers will not be issued for free school meals this half term.
- Music Lessons – We have been overwhelmed by the amount of children who would like to take part in instrument lessons. All reply slips, from children in Year 2 to Year 6 have been passed on to the relevant instrument teachers who will be in touch with you regarding lessons.
- NHS Healthier Swaps – For details regarding healthier food swaps and ideas on how to live more healthily, please see here.

- Y5 Narnia Workshop – These are taking place on Monday 24th January for Ospreys and Owls and Tuesday 25th January for Hawks and Eagles. The deadline for payment is Monday 24th January. For the letter please click here.
- Reception and Y6 Height and Weight Checks – The school nurse team will be in school on Thursday 27th January 2022 to carry out height and weight checks for those children in Reception and Year 6. Please see here and here for more information.
- Friday 4th February – History Day across the school.

Reminders:
- All Star Reading Heroes – A key way to support your child with their learning at home is by reading with them daily. Also pupils receive points each time they read and can trade these in for prizes. Here is more information regarding this initiative. As well as reading books children bring home, pupils also have access to e-books through their Collins log-on. If you need more information about your child’s e-books please speak to your class teacher.

We hope you have had a good week – it has been another busy week here at school. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.
Latest news:
- COVID-19 Isolation Changes - If your child tests positive, from Monday (17th January) take LFD tests on day 5 and day 6 of your child’s self-isolation period. If they receive two negative test results, they are no longer required to complete 10 full days of self-isolation. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 5 of the self-isolation period and tests must be taken 24 hours apart. Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation. If both of these test results are negative and your child does not have a high temperature, they may end their self-isolation after the second negative test result and return to your school from (on) day 6.
- Music Lessons – Children in Years 2 to Year 6 had a wonderful music demonstration today. Pupils were introduced to our new piano and drum teachers. Mr Foster (who teaches violin) also showed pupils the guitar. There will be letters coming home for those who would like to learn these instruments.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and we would like to wish you all a happy New Year. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

- Wonder Day – On Wednesday the children explored their new topics through practical activities to see what they could discover. Please see here for some pictures of the things they got up to.
- COVID Updates – As you will be aware over Christmas there have been many discussions regarding COVID rates, isolation periods and booster programmes. Keeping up with the guidance can be difficult; we will forward information to you as we receive it. Here are the key updates:
- Positive LFD Tests - From Tuesday 11th January, if you get a positive LFD (lateral flow device) test result, you will be required to self-isolate immediately and will not be required to take a confirmatory PCR test. Please inform the school ASAP if you receive a positive LFD.
