    Dear Parents and Carers,

    It has been a very exciting end to this term with Christmas Dinners, Class Parties, trips for some year groups, as well as wearing festive outfits today. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and we hope you have a lovely New Year.

    Latest news:

    • A Message from the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher – Please see here for the half term message from Ms Kedzior and Mr Beardsmore.
    • Curriculum Letters – For next half term’s Topic Letters, please see here.
    • COVID number – Should your child test positive for COVID-19, please do inform the school. If your child tests positive by Monday 20th December, please call 07512 277557. If your child tests positive after this date, please follow this link to leave your details.
    • Local Authority message – Please see here for a message from the Local Authority regarding COVID-19 and the new guidance.
    • Household Support The Household Support Fund is targeted at any vulnerable families who are on a low income, during the winter months including those of children eligible for free school meals. Families are able to apply directly for food and utilities support using the public form here. 
    • SEND Newsletter – Please see here for this term’s SEND Newsletter from Mrs Watson.
    • The Kedzior Award – We are incredibly proud to announce this half term’s Kedzior Award winners are: Daniel W and Florence C.  For more information about this, please see here. Huge congratulations to these amazing pupils. The next nominations need to be in by Tuesday 8th February 2022.  

    Upcoming dates:

    • Y5 Narnia Workshop – These are taking place on Monday 24th January for Ospreys and Owls and Tuesday 25th January for Hawks and Eagles. The deadline for payment is Monday 24th January. For the letter please click here.
    • Flu Immunisation – We have been notified that the rescheduled flu immunisation will take place on Wednesday 12th January 2022. For more information please see this letter. You will also find information if you have not yet consented for your child to be immunised.
    • Reception and Y6 Height and Weight Checks – The school nurse team will be in school on Thursday 27th January 2022 to carry out height and weight checks for those children in Reception and Year 6. Please see here and here for more information.

    Reminders:

    • Start of school – A reminder that school starts on Wednesday 5th January 2022 at the usual start times.
    • E-Safety advice – Christmas is often a time when children receive new electronic devices. Please see here for information on e-safety. Alternatively, see here for some specific device and social media guides.
    • Support and Help – Should you require any support over the Christmas Holidays, please see here for links that may help.

    Club timetable:

    • No clubs will be taking place in the first week. More information about clubs will be coming after the Christmas Holiday.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you have all had a lovely week. It has been yet another busy week in school with Hour of Code lessons taking place as well as the finishing touches to recorded Carol Concerts and Nativities. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Household Support Fund - We have been notified that a decision has been made to temporarily suspend the public application form while the claims are processed. Should you require any support, please contact Mrs Harvey. We will let you know when the public form is available to take applications again.
    • Christmas jumper / festive attire – Friday 17th December - We are not officially celebrating National Christmas Jumper Day this Friday (Today, 10th December). Instead, we are having an ARH Festive Attire Day on Friday 17th December. We are encouraging pupils to wear something festive such as a Christmas jumper, Santa hat, a tinsel scarf etc – be creative! Please note that no donations will be required.
    • Crossing Patrol – Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no School Crossing Patrol on Avebury Avenue until we return to school in January. Please take extra care when crossing the road.
    • Dinner Debt – If your child has school dinners (Years 3 - 6) could we please ask that you check their Pay 360 account before the end of term to make sure that it is all up to date.
    • Leicester Football Coaching Course – Please see here for information regarding a football course which is open to children from Reception to Year 6.

    Children are able to come to school on these days in their party clothes and are welcome to bring in a small donation of party food (Pre-packaged food only, no homemade food and no food containing nuts please).

    Reminders:

    • Christmas Holiday – School will close for the Christmas Holiday on Friday 17th December at the end of the school day and we will re-open on Wednesday 5th January at the normal time.
    • Flu Immunisations - The Nurses are hoping to come into school in January to administer the Flu Immunisations - could we please encourage parents and carers to register your children if you have not already done so.
    • Non-smoking site - Please remember that the whole of the school site is a non-smoking zone. Please refrain from smoking whilst on the school site. Please see our No Smoking Policy for further information.

     

    Club timetable:

    • Y6 Table Tennis – Tuesday after school in the upstairs hall.
    • All other clubs will resume in the week commencing 10th January 2022.
    • Basketball – In the New Year, there will be the opportunity for Y5 and Y6 to join our new Basketball Team. Children who have shown an interest in this club will be given a letter to bring home today. Due to limited spaces, names will be drawn out of a hat and pupils chosen will be advised with a confirmation note.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    It is hard to believe another week has come and gone and we are heading towards the end of this busy term. We hope you have all had a lovely week. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Winter Ball – It was wonderful to see the children enjoying the Winter Ball this week. We would like to thank you for your support as the money raised from the event will go towards learning resources for the children.
    • Reception Welly Walk – The Reception children had an excellent time on Wednesday completing their sponsored fancy dress welly walk, even if it was a little muddy! The children are raising funds for the school and the deadline for sponsorships is Wednesday 8th December.
    • Winter Art Week – Pupils have been busy this week making winter art and decorations. Extra decorations that the children have made are going to Loros. You can see some of our lovely winter art here. We have also put up our Christmas tree for the children in the downstairs hall. You can see the tree here.
    • Food bank School still a supply of food items should parents and carers need any support, in addition Mrs Harvey can make a referral to the food bank in Beaumont Leys. Please contact Mrs Harvey at school if you would like any help from the school’s food bank.
    • COVID-19 update – As you may be aware, we have re-introduced some further COVID measures, such as staff wearing masks. To help us reduce transmission rates, we would like to encourage parents and carers to leave the school site as quickly as possible after bringing or collecting your child and to be mindful of social distancing when on our site – thank you.     • A message from our PTFA – We would like to thank everyone who helped support Bags2schools. Please see our message here. We are also launching a Christmas competition. For more information, please see here.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Hour of Code – Next week pupils will be taking part in exciting coding activities as part of our Computing Curriculum.
    • Year 1 Snowdome – Monday 6th December.
    • Christmas Dinner – Christmas dinner for the whole school will be on Tuesday 14th December 2021. If you would like your child to have a Christmas dinner, please advise the class teacher/ask your child to let their teacher know. Orders need to be in by Friday 10th December 2021. If your child is entitled to Free School meals or in Reception, Y1 and Y2, we still need you to order a Christmas dinner if one is needed by telling your class teacher.     • Year 2 Sleeping Beauty – Wednesday 15th December.
    • Reception Curve – Thursday 16th December.

    • Christmas Holiday – School will close for the Christmas Holiday on Friday 17th December at the end of the school day and we will re-open on Wednesday 5th January at the normal time.
    • The Leicester Household Survey – We have been notified about this survey. The aim is to gather information about people’s housing circumstances, how people’s lives have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, how they find out about council services and how they like to be communicated with. The online survey can be completed by any city resident, until 10th December, at Leicester Household Survey 2021 - Leicester City Council

    • Y6 Cards have a lunch time cards club on a Monday.
    • Y6 Table Tennis Tuesday after school in the upstairs hall.
    • Y5/6 Choir Choir club is on Thursday lunchtimes in Mrs Heaney-Fitzgerald’s classroom.
    • Y5/6 Girls’ Football Friday after school.
    • Y2 multi-sports Year 2 multi-sports club is on a Tuesday after school, in the downstairs hall.
