    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you have had a great week. It was lovely to see so many pupils today wearing green and taking part in activities to learn more about climate change and ways to help the environment.

    Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Winter Holiday Activities and Food Programme for eligible free school meal children – The Local Authority has announced that the Holiday Activities and Food Programme will be taking place across the school Christmas holidays for children eligible for free schools meals. Registration closes on Friday 3 December. Please see the letter here or click here for further information.
    • Household Support Fund – If you need support with food, energy and water bills there is a Household Support Fund families can access. You can self-refer through the Household support fund website or by visiting Citizens Advice

    Should you require further help with this, please contact the school and ask to speak to Mrs Harvey.

    • Year 3 parents and carers onlyYear 3 have sent out a survey to family members on Seesaw through the Seesaw Family app. The survey is to gather opinions on the Year 3 trip options for this year. The link is also available here.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Winter Art Week – Next week is Winter Art Week where pupils will be applying their artistic skills to create some wonderful winter pieces of art.
    • Winter Ball – Reception, Year 3 &4 Tuesday 30th November; Year 1&2, Year 5&6 Thursday 2nd December. Please see the letter here. Final deadline for buying tickets is Monday at 12pm.
    • Reception Welly Walk – Reception are having a sponsored fancy dress welly walk on Wednesday 1st December. The deadline to bring in sponsorship money is Wednesday 8th December.
    • Year 1 Snowdome – Monday 6th December.
    • Christmas Dinner – Christmas dinner for the whole school will be on Tuesday 14th December 2021. If you would like your child to have a Christmas dinner, please advise the class teacher/ask your child to let their teacher know. Orders need to be in by Friday 10th December 2021. If your child is entitled to Free School meals, we still need you to order a Christmas dinner if one is needed by telling your class teacher. Please see the delicious menu here.
    • Year 2 Sleeping Beauty – Wednesday 15th December.
    • Reception Curve – Thursday 16th December.

    Reminders:

    • Seesaw Families / Contact reminder – Please remember to use the Seesaw Family App to message your child's class teacher. Please do not use your child's class journal on Seesaw to send messages as the journal should only be used for your child's work and learning. Thank you.
    • The Leicester Household Survey – We have been notified about this survey. The aim is to gather information about people’s housing circumstances, how people’s lives have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, how they find out about council services and how they like to be communicated with. The online survey can be completed by any city resident, until 10th December, at Leicester Household Survey 2021 - Leicester City Council
    • Winter Ball – The payment deadline is Monday 29th November at 12pm.
    • Cross Country – This club has now stopped for this year and will resume after the Christmas Holiday. More information regarding this will follow in the New Year.

    • Y6 Boys’ Football Monday after school.
    • Y6 Cards have a lunch time cards club on a Monday.
    • Y5/6 Table Tennis Tuesday after school in the upstairs hall.
    • Y5/6 Choir Choir club is on Thursday lunchtimes in Mrs Heaney-Fitzgerald’s classroom.
    • Y5/6 Girls’ Football Friday after school.
    • Y2 multi-sports Year 2 multi-sports club is on a Tuesday after school, in the downstairs hall.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    It was lovely today to see the children celebrating Children in Need and Odd Socks day. We hope you have had a wonderful week. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Children in Need – So far the school has raised £711.48 for Children in Need. Many thanks to everyone for their donations.
    • Fond Farewell – For the last seven years we have been supported by Ryan from Leicester City in the Community. Today is Ryan’s last day working with us at ARH. He brings boundless energy and enthusiasm into the school, especially in regards to sport. Both pupils and staff have formed the most amazing relationships with him and he will leave a big hole in a lot of our hearts. Ryan is about to embark on an exciting new adventure and we truly wish him all the best.
    • Cleaning job – We currently have some vacancies for cleaners. Please email Mr Beardsmore for further information.
    • Sleep Help – If you find your child has sleep issues, please see here for some support and information.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Green Jumper Day – Friday 26th November is Green Jumper Day. This day is all about raising awareness around climate change and educating the future generation about the importance of taking care of our planet. It would be wonderful to see the children dressed in green on this day. For more information, please see the letter here.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you have had a lovely week. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Plogging – Plogging is jogging and walking whilst picking up litter and positively impacting the environment. Crown Hills Community College is running a Plogging event on Saturday, 13th November and on Saturday 20th November at The Lancaster Academy 10am-1pm. Please CLICK HERE to book onto the event.
    • Christmas clear out – If you are having a pre-Christmas clear out, we would happily accept toy donations. We are especially looking for building bricks/blocks, role play items, costumes and jigsaws. Please give any donations to your class teacher.
    • Topic homework – Each half term pupils have an optional topic homework where the pupils can unleash their creativity. We encourage pupils to find something that inspires or interests them from a topic to find out more and present their findings however they choose. As a reminder, here are the current topics: Nursery Terrific Tales; Reception Autumn; Y1 Inspirational Occupations; Y2 Tudor (particularly Tudor houses); Y3 Kapow! Superheroes; Y4 Wonderful World of Chocolate (particularly creating food-themed empires); Y5 Invaders and Traders; Y6 Extinct.

    • Winter ball –  We will be hosting a Winter Ball in order for our children to have some wintery-fun in a safe environment whilst raising money for the school; please see the letter here.
    • The Kedzior Award - A reminder from Mrs Nanda about The Kedzior Award. We are continuing to encourage children to volunteer and give back outside of school. This can include helping around the home, helping others or volunteering in the community. Pupils/parents can keep a log and send this information to Mrs Nanda or put it on Seesaw. Remember, volunteering is one of the five ways to wellbeing. The next winners will be announced Tuesday 14th December. Winners will receive a Headteacher's pick of the pot and a class treat of the winner's choice!

    • Children in Need and Odd Socks – Friday 19th November is Children in Need; we will be having a non-uniform day please see the following letter here to find out more. We will also be having an Odd Socks Day on the same day, please see the following letter here.
    • Anti-bullying week – The week commencing 15th November is Anti-Bullying week. Pupils will be taking part in anti-bullying activities throughout this week.
    • Y6 Beaumanor Hall Trip – Year 6 have a trip to Beaumanor Hall on the 16th November (6AV & 6CU) and 18th November (6CM & 6SG).
    • Y5 swimming – Eagles and Hawks swimming will start on Monday 22nd November. The letters are available to see here or here (PP).

    Reminders:

    • Seesaw families – All classes are using Seesaw Families to upload photos and share work with you. This is also a key way for messages to be shared. If you do not have your child’s log-in details or if you need help getting onto the app, please ask your class teacher.
    • Collins – All pupils have a Collins E-book log-in where they can access lots of levelled reading books at home. If you need any help with this, please see your class teacher.
    • Chocolate spread and nuts – Please remember that all types of chocolate spread and nuts are not allowed in the school. Thank you.
    • School day times – Please remember the timings of your child’s school day here. The doors open 10 minutes before the start of your child’s day starting, if you arrive after this time pupils will need to go through the main reception.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    It has been a very busy week in school with Parents’ and Carers’ Evenings as well as Maths Investigation Week and a visit from Pudsey. Please see below for this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Children in Need – Even though Children in Need is next week, Year 6 children were filmed today for BBC Children in Need; this will air on BBC East Midlands Tonight (5/11) at 6:30pm. Look out for us! Here is Pudsey in the downstairs hall.
    • Message from the Headteacher and Deputy Head – Please see the following message from the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher.
    • Reception – To support your child at home, please click here for some ideas to regarding reading and phonics. To see how we are teaching your child phonics sounds, please click here to see Mrs Coyne demonstrating the sounds and actions.
    • BBC Bitesize – Before half-term, several of our pupils were filmed for the new series of BBC Bitesize. This new series has started to be aired and it is on at 9am on the CBBC channel and will be on iPlayer a week later. Well done to our pupils who represented ARH so well.
    • Maths Investigation Week – Pupils across the school have been challenged this week with lots of tricky problem solving activities. To see some pictures, please click here.
    • Bag2School The school PTFA would like to continue the Bag2School initiative as it was a real success last year. This initiative will allow you to have a good clear out and donate unwanted items, as well as raise funds for the school. Children will be coming home with a bag for you to use.     • COVID – If your child tests positive for COVID-19 outside of the school opening hours, please still ring the school office 0116 262 4003 and leave a message with the appropriate details. The office staff will see this as soon as school opens. If you could inform us of the isolation period too, especially if this is changed by test and trace, this will allow us to keep our records up-to-date.
    • Bonfire night / Diwali celebrations – LCC Public Health team have asked for messages to go out locally to encourage people to do the things they can to protect themselves. Please see a letter here from the Leicester City Council.
    • Breakfast and After School Club – We have some spaces in our Breakfast and After School Club. Please see here for more details.
