    Dear Parents and Carers,

    What a lovely end to this half term with the children out having a picnic to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. We hope you have a restful and fun half term and we look forward to seeing you after the break. Please remember, school opens again on Monday 6th June. Here are this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Message from the Head and Deputy Head – Please see an end of term message from our Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher here.
    • Jubilee Celebrations – Children across the school have been taking part in a wide range of Jubilee activities. It was wonderful to see the children’s bunting and each class’ Jubilee Plaque, which is displayed on the Jubilee Tree on the front field. To see some of these plaques, please click here.
    • Athletics – On Wednesday children from Year 4, 5 and 6 attended the West Area Leicester Athletics Championships and were very successful. We won 1 gold, 3 silvers and a bronze medal. We were also proud of the way our pupils represented themselves and the school.
    • LCFC Foxes School Cup Tournament – Today children from Year 6 competed at the Leicester City Training Ground in the Foxes School Cup. Pupils had a great day, played some great football and came third. Well done!
    • Household support In addition to the Household Support Fund, the council has recently launched a benefits calculator to help families find out what benefits and support are available.  Please see the webpage for more information.
    • Holiday Activities Waterfront are excited to inform you that they will be running a Free Summer Holiday, Activities & Food Programme full of fun and engaging activities. This is a FREE provision to all children in receipt of Free School Meals. Their Summer Holiday, Activities & Food Programme is for ages 5-11 years and will run Monday to Thursday, 11th June – Thursday 4th August, 12 - 4pm. The Activity Scheme will include a range of activities such as arts and crafts, sports, healthy eating games and much more! Lunch will be provided to all that attend. Any allergies should be stated before the start date of the scheme, to ensure a suitable alternative can be provided.     • Menu change – On Monday 6th June, the school dinner menu will be jacket potato instead of creamed potato due to a supply issue. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Year 1 Phonics – Pupils in Year 1 will be completing their phonics screening check during the week of the 6th June.
    • Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check – Year 4 children will be undertaking the statutory multiplication check during the week of the 13th June. For further information please see the DfE leaflet here.
    • Year 1 Captivating Creatures Visit – ‘Captivating Creatures’ will be visiting our school and holding workshops on the environments that different animals live in on Thursday 23rd June 2022. Please see the letter here for further information.
    • Year 5 Drayton Manor Trip – Year 5 will be visiting Drayton Manor Theme Park on Thursday 30th June as part of our ‘Innovative Inventions’ topic. Please see the letter here for further information.
    • Year 5 Leicester Music Festival – Year 5 have an exciting opportunity to take part in the ‘Leics Make Music Summer Festival’ at De Montfort Hall and Gardens, celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. The date for this is Tuesday 21st June 2022. Please see the letter here for further information.
    • Year 6 Brocks Hill – Year 6 are going to Brocks Hill on Friday 10th June 2022. Please see the letter here for further information.
    • Year 6 Peak District Trip – As part of our ‘50 Things to do before you are 11 ¾ ’, on Thursday 16th June 2022, pupils will go to the Peak District, which is a fantastic place to tick many activities off the list. Please see the letter here for further information.
    • Year 2 Conkers – As a reward for their amazing behaviour and focus during the Year 2 SATS, Year 2 will be going to Conkers. The trip will take place on Wednesday 22nd June 2022. Please see the letter here for further information.
    • Year 6 Gorse Hill – On Monday 20th June, the Ocelots (6CM) and the Jaguars (6CU) will be visiting the farm. On Thursday 23rd June the Pumas (6SG) and the Panthers (6AV) will be visiting the farm. Please see the letter here for further information.

    Reminders:

    • Social Media Guides – Although we do not encourage our pupils to use social media, there are some great guides out there to support you as parents to help keep your children safer online. Please do see here for hints and tips on privacy, reports and more.
    • Dinner Money – Please remember that for your child to have school dinners, their account should always be in credit to allow the system to order a dinner for them. Please ensure that you keep an eye on your child’s account or contact the office if you have any issues.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We have been lucky with the weather this week for most of this week. Year 2 have been undertaking their SATs this week and we are very proud of how hard they have worked. Please see below for this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    • HM Queen’s Jubilee Celebration We will be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee; please see the letter here with further information.
    • Household support fund – If you need support with food, energy and water bills, there is a Household Support Fund available that the school can refer you to. Please contact the school office for further information.
    • Year 6 Boys Football On Tuesday, the Year 6 Boys’ Football Team represented Leicester City at Vicarage Road Stadium, Watford. The boys did the school proud with their behaviour and football skills! Although we didn't progress through to the final, this was a once in a lifetime experience and Mr. Orchard is extremely proud of them. Please see a photo here. Well done boys!
    • ESPO School Fund – We’re pleased to announce that Alderman Richard Hallam is part of the My School Fund initiative. This innovative scheme allows us to boost our school’s budget with your help. Please see a letter here for more information.

    • SATs – KS1 SATs for Year 2 will finish off next week: W/c 23.05.22.
    • Year 4 Galleries of Justice Trip – We will be visiting the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham and experiencing the world of “Crime and Punishment”. Tuesday 24th May 2022 - Huskies and Polar Bears & Wednesday 25th May 2022 - Arctic Foxes and Penguins. Please see the letter here for further information.

    • E-Safety Questionnaire – We are in the process of looking at what we can do to further support our pupils and community regarding e-safety. Please fill in the questionnaire here to give your views. It is open until Monday 23rd May, 3pm.
    • May Half Term – The school will close for half term at the end of the school day on Friday 27th May and open again at the usual time on Monday 6th June.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    What a week! Year 6 have now completed their SATs, we received our Ofsted report and we are over half-way through this half term. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • HM Queen’s Jubilee Celebration Mowmacre Hill Primary School field at Tedworth Green, Leicester LE4 2NG are having a Jubilee Celebration on their field on Friday 27 May 3.30pm - 5.30pm. Please see the poster here for more information.
    • Household support fund – If you need support with food, energy and water bills there is a Household Support Fund available that the school can refer you to. Please contact the school office for further information.
    • Key found – A key was found during Athletics club at the park next to the school yesterday. If you believe this to be yours, please come to the office.
    • Bardi Concert Offer – Please see a letter here for information regarding a Bardi Concert at De Montfort Hall.

    Reminders:

    • Ofsted – Earlier this week we sent to our parents and carers our latest Ofsted report. We are thrilled to share with you that we continue to be a GOOD school. The inspectors recognised the hard work and dedication of the Governors and staff at ARH and commented on the ‘strong sense of community’ and the ‘exemplary’ behaviour of our pupils. Please find the report here.
    • Year 2 Parents – KS1 SATs – As mentioned earlier on in the year, our Year 2 pupils will be sitting their SATs papers in May. This will be W.C. 16.05.22 and W.C. 23.05.22. It is imperative that your child is present to undertake these assessments so please ensure their attendance for these weeks. On Seesaw Year 2 teachers have sent more information and resources about supporting your child through SATs.     Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope that you enjoyed the Bank Holiday on Monday; we can’t believe it is Friday already. This week has just flown by! Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • May half term food offer The city council is again working with Samworth Brothers to support families with food over the May half term.  There will be five pop-up venues across the city that will give parents of free school meal children and those needing additional support, the opportunity to collect food for the half-term. Please see the information sheet and the website link May half term food offer - Leicester City Council. Please be aware you need to register for a venue by Tuesday 10th May.
    • Leicester Tigers Ticket Offer Leicester Tigers have shared a school offer and code for you to attend their fixture against Wasps on 4th June 15:00 KO. Please see here for further information.
    • Swim Teacher – Leicester City Council will be running a funded swim teacher course in June, in exchange for a commitment to employment ahead of the summer holidays. If you are interested, please see the letter here.

    Reminders:

    • Balls on the playground – Please remember that balls should be kept in hands once the bell goes at 8:35am. If children still wish to play with balls after this time, they can use the fields or the football cage.
