Term Dates Consultation - please read
Thu 28 Jun 2018Term Dates Consultation
As you may be aware Leicestershire County Council held a consultation regarding future term dates. That exercise has now been completed, and over 70% of their respondents voted for an option that differs from the date pattern that Leicester City Council had already published for 2019/20. It has been confirmed that their term and holiday dates will therefore not match ours for that year.
We recognise there are strong views on this issue, with many staff and parents having concerns regarding the 9 week duration of the Autumn half term immediately prior to Christmas that County have opted for. However, we also know from feedback received previously that respondents in the city have significant concerns when schools in the city and county have different term dates.
As a result it has been decided to hold another consultation exercise to seek views as to whether or not we should change our dates for 2019/20 to match the County Council. This consultation will also take into account the dates proposed for 2020/21 and 2021/22.
The consultation exercise is to be launched shortly, and I would encourage you to respond and express your preferences via the Leicester City Council website at https://consultations.leicester.gov.uk/
Thank you for your support.
