    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you all had a lovely half term. This half term looks like it will be another busy one. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Wonder Day – Children across the school have taken part in Wonder Day this week to see what they can discover about their new topic. To see some of the exciting activities they have been taking part in, please see here.
    • Crystal Maze Maths Day – On Tuesday this week, children took part in Crystal Maze Maths Day. On this day, children had a range of puzzles to solve which link to their topics this year. Each topic has a shape, number and a logic problem to solve. To see some of the fantastic activities, please see here.
    • Ratcliffe College open day – We have been informed of an upcoming Open Day at Ratcliffe College. Please see here for more information.
    • COVID-19 – As a school, we are continuing to respond and follow the up-to-date guidance from the Government. For more information regarding the Government’s updated guidance, please see here.
    • Year 3 Skegness – Year 3 parents and carers will have received an email this week with a letter regarding the upcoming Skegness visit. Please see a copy of the letter here.
    • Pancake Day – Tuesday 1st March 2022 is Shrove Tuesday. Our cook will be making pancakes as a dessert option for the children. There will also be the option of chocolate muffins for those children who would prefer not to have a pancake. Please see the poster here.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Aspirations Week – Next week children be thinking about their future jobs and carers. We will also be learning from people with different careers.
    • World Book Day – We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March. For more information, please see the letter here.
    • Y6 SATs Parent Meeting – Y6 Parents and Carers are invited to attend the upcoming SATs meeting on Monday 7th March at 3.45pm.
    • Reception – On Thursday 17th March Reception pupils are having a Captivating Creature session. Please see the letter here for more information. The deadline for payment is Wednesday 16th March.

     

    Reminders:

    • Pupil Premium – Have your financial circumstances changed recently? If so, then you may be eligible for Pupil Premium! The pupil premium grant is extra funding that the government gives to schools to support and raise the achievement of underprivileged pupils. The amount a school receives depends on the number of pupils eligible for free school meals. Please click here to find out more information about Pupil Premium and how you can apply online.
    • Bikes and Scooters – Please can we remind parents and carers that children are not allowed to cycle or scoot on the school site. Children are very welcome to cycle to school but are requested to walk their bikes and scooters round once they are on the school’s grounds. Thank you.
    • Parking – We have received more complaints this week from our neighbours regarding some parents and carers parking inconsiderately. Some of our neighbours are now in contact with the police regarding the issue. We would like to again remind parents and careers to park safely and considerately. Thank you.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    It has been another busy end to a great half term. We would like to wish you all a happy half term holiday and we are looking forward to seeing all the pupils on Monday 21st February. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • A Message from the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher – Please see here for the half term message from Ms Kedzior and Mr Beardsmore.
    • Children’s Mental Health Week – Pupils across the school took part in activities this week regarding mental health and wellbeing. For more ways to support your child with their mental wellbeing please see here.
    • Leicester MuseumsLeicester Museums have shared an activity sheet with us. This activity sheet can be used across all of Leicester Museums and Galleries. The majority of the Leicester Museums and Galleries venues have free entry. Please see the link here.
    • Year 5 Narnia Workshop Year 5 had an amazing time a few weeks ago during their Narnia workshop. Throughout the day the children filmed a selection of scenes that were edited together to create their own Narnia film. It can be seen here until Friday 4th March.
    • School Dinners – After the half term, we are introducing a new layout to our current school menu with a band system. Your child will still be asked each morning what they will be having for their school lunch. Depending on their choice, they will be given a band to wear to confirm this. The options will be as follows: Meat (red), Vegetarian (green), Deli (blue). Pupils who have a special menu in place due to dietary needs will also wear a yellow band as well as their chosen meal.     • New Topic Letters – You can find your child’s new topic letter here. These letters detail the new learning and ways you can support your child at home.
    • The Kedzior Award We are super proud to announce this half term’s Kedzior Award winners are: Adam C and Jada B.  Adam achieved this award for donating new toys to a charity called ‘Toys on the Table’ during the Christmas period. Jada achieved this award for giving her time to volunteer at her local church for the past 8 months! She has been using her amazing skills and talent, playing the drums and the piano for the congregation. These pupils are excellent role models and have been rewarded with a certificate; a Headteacher’s pick of the pot and have chosen a whole class treat. Huge congratulations to these fantastic pupils and thank you for all that you do! The next nominations need to be in by Tuesday 5th April 2022, please see here for further information.

     

    Upcoming dates:

    • School re-opening Spring 2 – School will re-open after the half term holiday in Monday 21st February.
    • Crystal Maze Maths Week – During the first week back after half term, pupils will be taking part in exciting Maths’ problem-solving activities.
    • Aspirations Week – This will be taking place on the week commencing 28th February. We are looking forward to learning from people with different careers.
    • World Book Day – We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March. For more information, please see the letter here.
    • Height and Weight Checks The School Nurse Team will be coming into school on Tuesday 15th March to complete any Height and Weight checks that were missed for Year 6 and Reception when they came in before.

    • Considerate Driving – As a school, we are fortunate to have a dedicated crossing patrol for the safety of our school community. When driving around the school entrance, please ensure you are taking great care and respect the crossing patrol.
    • Y4 Swimming – The Arctic Foxes and Polar Bears swimming lessons will start on Monday 21st February.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    It is hard to believe that there is just one more week of this half-term. We hope you have all had a good week. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • History Day – Pupils across the school have had a wonderful day today learning about the different decades.
    • FA Cup Visit – We were very fortunate today to have the FA Cup and Community Shield come into school. Pupils across the school were able to see these magnificent trophies. Please see photos here.
    • Holiday clubs – Trinity Life Church are holding free holiday clubs over February half-term. See the poster for more information here.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Children’s Mental Health Week – Across next week, pupils will be taking part in activities to learn more about mental health and ways we can improve our mental wellbeing. For further support, please see here.
    • Y3 Anglo Saxons Day – On Friday 11th February 2022, Year 3 will be having an Anglo-Saxons day as part of their Smashing Saxons topic. Please see the letter here.
    • Y4 swimming – The letters for Arctic Foxes and Polar Bears swimming have been sent out; it is also possible to view the letters here or here (pp). Swimming will start on Monday 21st February.
    • Reception – On Thursday 17th March Reception pupils are having a Captivating Creature session. Please see the letter here for more information. The deadline for payment is Wednesday 16th March.
    • Aspirations Week – If you have any friends or family who are willing to speak to our pupils about their jobs and their skills, please contact Mrs Nanda to make further arrangements by Wednesday 9th February. If a visit to the school is not possible, a video recording could be another option.  Please see here for further information.

    Reminders:

    • Milk If your child is currently in the Reception Year Group (F2) and is under the age of 5, they will receive free milk. Once your child turns 5, they will not be entitled to free milk. Therefore, please follow the link to register and make a payment for your child to continue receiving their milk. https://www.coolmilk.com/ Louise White is available in the School Office on a Thursday and Friday for any queries regarding milk.
