    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Welcome back to school – we hope you all had a lovely half-term break. Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Remembrance Day –Remembrance Day poppies have arrived and are now on sale in the school office, along with other items such as zip pulls, reflectors, silicon wristbands and the popular snap bands.
    • ‘Starting Full-Time School – Autumn Term 2022’ – If your child was born between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018, it’s time to apply for them to start school full time from August 2022. The deadline to apply is 15th January 2022. Please see here for further details.
    • DT week – The pupils loved taking part in DT week, for some of their creations please see here.
    • Wonder Day – All pupils took part in Wonder Day as part of the start of their new topics. They thoroughly enjoyed seeing what they could discover. Please see some photos here.
    • ARH Reading Heroes - It’s been wonderful to see the pupils starting our new reading initiative, for further information please see here and remember to remind your child to bring in their reading journal every day to get the most points.
    • Flu Immunisations – The flu immunisations planned for next week (1st-5th November) have been postponed by the NHS. Rescheduled session dates and further details will follow as soon as possible. Please see a letter from the NHS here.
    • Parents’ and Carers’ Evening – As we are approaching Parents’ and Carers’ Evening, we have put together all of our end of year expectations for reading, writing and Mathematics. This will give you an overview of all of the objectives your child will be working on this year. Please click here to find them.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Parents’ and Carers’ Evening – Tuesday 2nd November – Virtual; Wednesday 3rd November – In-Person. Please click the links for further information. Zoom information will best sent out next week.
    • Maths Investigation Week – The week commencing 1st November is Maths Investigation Week. Pupils will be taking part in lots of mathematical activities to really get their brains thinking!
    • Anti-Bullying Week – The week commencing 15th November is Anti-Bullying week.
    • Y5 swimming – The letters for Eagles and Hawks swimming has been sent out; it is also available to see here or here (PP). Swimming will start on Monday 22nd November.

    Reminders

    • Earrings in P.E. – Please remember that earrings cannot be worn for P.E. and cannot be taped up either. They need to be removed. Please see our jewellery policy for further information.
    • Year 3 P.E. Change – Chameleons’ and Dragons' P.E. will now be on a Thursday afternoon, instead of a Monday.  This will start from next week (w/c. 1st November); please ensure that your child brings their P.E. kit for the correct day.

    • Y4, Y5 and Y6 Cross Country – Thursday 3:30 – 4:30pm

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you all have had a lovely final week of this half-term. Please see below for this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

    Latest news:

    • Jubilee Tree – We had a wonderful event at the school today. The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire presented the school a beautiful maple tree as part of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. The Lord Mayor of Leicester also attended as well Steve Walsh. For pictures of the event please click here.
    • Black History Week – Pupils across the school have had an assembly and workshop from the Emmanu’EL Apostolic Gospel Academy Choir today as part of our Black History week.
    • Half-term Newsletter – please see here for the half-term message from the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher.
    • All-Star Reading Heroes – Next half term, we are going to be starting an exciting new reading initiative called 'All-Star Reading Heroes'. Please watch the video to find out more about how the initiative will work and what you can do to help support your child at home.
    • Year 1 Junk Modelling - Could we ask parents/carers to bring in any junk modelling they have to school on Monday 25th October please? Year 1 are going to be making planes and would love any empty plastic bottles or cardboard boxes etc. If you have any materials, please give these to your class teacher.
    • Reception Materials - Reception (F2) are asking if any parents who are in a trade that have spare materials could they be donated to the school e.g. wooden pallets/cable wheels/paint/guttering. We would love to improve our small world area outside.
    • New Topic Letters – For all of the parent and carer letters for pupils’ new topics next half term, please click here.

    Upcoming dates:

    • Reception – Thursday 28th October Teeth Brushing assembly.
    • Year 2 – Monday 25th October Tudor assembly and workshop.
    • Year 3 – The first day back after half-term (Monday 25th October), we are having a dress-up day for our Kapow! topic. Please could the children come dressed up as their favourite superhero.
    • Year 5 – On Friday 29th October, Y5 have a trip to Abbey Park as part of their Invaders and Traders topic.
    • The first week back will also be DT week across the school.
    • School Individual Photos – These will take place on Tuesday 26th October. Please see the office staff if you are unsure whether you have given consent for these photos. Unfortunately this year there will be no sibling photos.
    • Parents and Carers Evening – Tuesday 2nd November – Virtual; Wednesday 3rd November – In-Person. Please see here for more information.
    • Whole School Flu Vaccine – Wednesday 3rd November is the date of the flu vaccine. Please ensure you have completed the consent form before Tuesday 2nd November. Please see here for the letter.

     

    Reminders:

    • Reception Curve Trip The trip is on Thursday 16th December and a payment of £15.66 needs to be paid by Monday 25th October.
    • Breakfast and After School Club – We have some spaces in our Breakfast and After School Club. Please see here for more details.
    • Positive Cases during Half-term – If your child tests positive for COVID-19 during the half term, please contact the school on 07512 277557 so we can perform our Track and Trace duties.
    • COVID Reminder - The main symptoms of COVID-19 are:

    a high temperature

    a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours

    a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

    What to do if your child has symptoms

    If your child has any of the main symptoms of COVID-19, even if they're mild:

    Get a PCR test (test that is sent to a lab) to check if they have COVID-19 as soon as possible.

    Your child should stay at home and not have visitors (self-isolate) until you get the test result – they can only leave home to have the test.

    Club timetable:

    • Y4, Y5 and Y6 Cross Country – Thursday 3:30 – 4:30pm
    • Year 3 are going to be starting clubs from next half term. We would like children to sign up using the link provided on Seesaw so we know how many children will be in each club. Children can come to reading club every week and are then able to sign up to one other club. If there is enough space after the initial sign up, we will allow children to sign up for more clubs.     Dear Parents and Carers,

    We hope you have had a lovely week. It has been wonderful to see the pupils wearing yellow today to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

    Latest news:

    • Attendance Information – Please click here for very important information regarding attendance.

    • Kedzior Award – Please find exciting information about this term’s winners of the Kedzior Award here.
    • Nursery Sponsored Walk – The Nursery children had a wonderful time on their sponsored Welly Walk earlier this week and have so far raised just over £550.
    • Clothes Bank We would like to make you aware that we now have a small Clothes Bank. We have been fortunate to have brand new, packaged school uniforms and P.E. kits donated to us. The sizes for these clothes are aged 8-9 years old. Please contact Karen Harvey in the school office if you are interested in these for your child.
    • Black History Week – Next week we will be celebrating Black History Week across the school through engaging and exciting activities. During this week, children will be learning about a range of famous figures who have made significant contributions to our society such as: Martin Luther King JR, Barack Obama, Marcus Rashford, Nicola Adams, Malorie Blackman and many more. This week is alongside our Diversity in the Curriculum Map which happens throughout the year.

    Key Reminders:

    • Before School Expectation – please see here for an important letter regarding before school expectations.
    • P.E. Kit – Please remember to send your child to school with the correct P.E. kit in a bag to change into. This includes a white t-shirt, black or navy shorts / joggers and appropriate footwear. For indoor P.E., this could be plimsolls and for outdoor P.E., trainers. Football kits are not permitted. Thank you.
    • Entering the school building – A polite reminder that parents are not to enter the school building unless invited in by a member of staff. Thank you.
    • School dinner – Please remember that school dinners must be paid for in advance.
    • Nursery Waiting List – If you have a child that has recently turned 2 years of age, you are welcome to complete a form for them to be put on the waiting list for when they are eligible for nursery.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Welcome to our first Latest News. The purpose of this newsletter is to streamline our communication with you. Here we will give you an overview of the events taking place at school as well as all of this week’s letters in one place. We hope this weekly newsletter is useful; if you do have any feedback regarding this newsletter, please contact the school office.

     

    Latest news:

    • Flu Immunisation – Please register your child for flu immunisation before 2nd November. Please find a link to the letter here.
    • World Mental Health Day – Remember to wear yellow on Friday 8th October. There is no money donation required. Please click here for the letter.
    • Material, Pots and Pans – If you have any spare material or old pots and pans, Foundation Stage would love to have them in their role play area and mud kitchens. Please donate any to your class teacher.
    • Black History Month - Throughout October, we will be celebrating Black History Month. We will have a visit from the Gospel Choir who will be running workshops for the children. Year 5 and 6 will also be taking part in an African mask painting and dance workshop. Keep an eye on Seesaw for photos!
    • Breakfast and After School Club – We have some spaces in our Breakfast and After School Club. Please see here for more details.
    • School Dinners – Please be aware that week 1’s menu has a change. For more information please click here.

     

    Upcoming dates and reminders:

    • School doors – school doors open 10 minutes before the start of your child’s school day. Here are the timing of our school day and the time the external doors will be closing. After this point, please take your child to the Reception.
    • Electric Scooters – Electric scooters are not permitted on the school grounds.
    • Parking – Please be considerate to our neighbours when parking around the school site.
    • Change of address or telephone number - Please advise the school office via email, alternatively a form can be collected, filled and returned.
    • Absence - When calling to report an absence, please state a reason, unfortunately we cannot log ‘not well’, ‘poorly’ etc.
    • Individual School Photos – Tuesday 26th October.
    • Try a School Dinner Day – Thursday 7th October will be ‘try a school dinner’ day to encourage all children in receipt of universal free school meals (F2-Y2) to give school dinners a try.  The menu which can be found on our website looks delicious!
