Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you had a relaxing Easter break and managed to enjoy the weather, time with family and friends as well as a few chocolate treats! Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

Latest news:

• Welcome Back – Please see here for a welcome back message from the Senior Leadership Team.
• Height and Weight Check – The school nurse team will be in school on 15^th June to complete the height and weight checks for pupils in Reception and Year 6. Parents in these year groups have also been emailed a letter from the nurse team to explain this check.
• Wonder Day – When the children came back after Easter, they were introduced to their new topic through Wonder Day. Please click here to see some of the activities they got up to. Wonder Day is an opportunity to discover, question and explore.
• Poetry Week – This week in school, pupils have been learning about poetry. They have been looking at different poetic styles, creating their own and having the chance to perform their poems to others.
• Parent Welfare Survey – We would love to hear your thoughts and views on how well the school keeps your child safe and happy at ARH. Please complete the survey here by Friday 13th May.
• How are you Leicester – Leicester City Council are running a consultation asking the question how you are, please see the consultation here. If you need support please email the council on the following wellbeingchampions@leicester.gov.uk.
• Year 3 Reading volunteers – We are looking for volunteers to help with our Year 3 pupils. Please see the letter here for more information.

Upcoming dates:

• Bank Holiday – Monday 2^nd May is a Bank Holiday so the school will be closed.
• Class Photos – Tuesday 3^rd May we will have a school photographer coming into school to take class photos.
• SATs – KS2 SATs for Year 6 pupils will take place W.C 09.05.22. KS1 SATs for Year 2 will take place W.C. 16.05.22 and W.C. 23.05.22.
• Teacher appreciation week – Teacher appreciation week is the week of 2^nd May.
• Wellbeing week – Wellbeing week is the week of 9^th May.

 

Reminders:

• Appointments – Could parents and carers please let the school office know about any appointments that pupils will be taking during school hours; this will help to get your child in the office in time for your collection.  
• Dinner Accounts – Just a reminder that your child's dinner account should be in credit in order for a dinner to be ordered.
• Year 2 Parents – KS1 SATs – As mentioned earlier on in the year, our Year 2 pupils will be sitting their SATs papers in May. This will be W.C. 16.05.22 and W.C. 23.05.22. It is imperative that your child is present to undertake these assessments so please ensure their attendance for these weeks. On Seesaw Year 2 teachers have sent more information and resources about supporting your child through SATs. Club timetable:

• Y5/6 Girls’ Football – Friday after school.
• Y6 Boys’ Football – Monday after school.
• String Orchestra – Tuesday after school in the upstairs hall.
• Athletics Club – Thursday after school.
