Design and Technology is an inspiring, engaging and practical subject. During our Design and Technology focused weeks, we aim to see all children enjoying and engaged within Design and Technology and seeing cross curricular links, where possible. Design and Technology allows children to use their creativity and imagination, to plan, design and make products that can be used within the world around them. Children should be curious about how things work, and how they can plan and create products for a purpose. Children will need to show a range of attributes and skills that promote British Values. They will develop their resilience through the evaluation of their products and their effectiveness using the key questions to reflect. This will help engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement. During our Food technology focused week, the children are taught about nutrition and the importance of healthy eating and the need for a variety of food within our diets. The aim of this is to promote a healthy lifestyle which is linked to the PSHE and safeguarding curriculum. During this, all children and staff using the Cooking Classroom space effectively to ensure teaching of food and nutrition is engaging for all children. Our pupils are given the opportunity to explore and develop their creative interests through a wide range of experiences and are encouraged to also demonstrate these outside of school and share these skills within topic homework projects. We aim to develop and promote oracy during our Design and Technology weeks by encouraging the children to talk about their creations and how they could improve it. Through this our children will develop:
