Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to school after the half term. This final half term looks to be a very busy one! Please see below this week’s latest news, updates and reminders.

Latest news:

• Welcome Back – Please see here for a Welcome Back message from the Senior Leadership Team.
• Summer Club – We have been informed of a Summer Holiday club which will be held at Barley Croft Primary School. The club has free places for children who receive free school meals. Please see here for more information.
• Football – On Tuesday boys from the Y6 Football team attended a final in connection with the Leicester City Primary Schools Football League, Division 1 league. We finished as runners-up in the final, however, we then went on to win the Fair Play and Respect cup - LCSFA introduced a Respect Initiative in September 2021 for the whole of the 2021/22 season. All LCITC coaches have been observing each session and awarding marks out of a 100 to all schools. For the team to win this Cup is a fantastic achievement. We are incredibly proud of how well the boys represented ARH not just on Tuesday but throughout the entire season – well done! For photos, please click here.
• First Aid – Next week children across the school will be learning about First Aid and things they can do to help in an emergency.
• Choir – The ARH choir (Y4/Y5/Y6) have been selected to perform at De Montfort Hall as part of a massed choir for a concert celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. The date of the performance is Wednesday 22^nd June 2022. The songs we are performing are from children’s films released during the Queen’s reign, ranging from Mary Poppins to Encanto. Tickets are on sale and are priced between £7 - £12. For more information, please see here.

Upcoming dates:

• Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check – Year 4 children will be undertaking the statutory multiplication check during the week of the 13^th June. For further information please see the DfE leaflet here.
• Year 6 Peak District Trip – As part of our ‘50 Things to do before you are 11 ¾ ’, on Thursday 16th June 2022, pupils will go to the Peak District, which is a fantastic place to tick many activities off the list. Please see the letter here for further information.
• Year 6 Gorse Hill – On Monday 20th June, the Ocelots (6CM) and the Jaguars (6CU) will be visiting the farm. On Thursday 23rd June the Pumas (6SG) and the Panthers (6AV) will be visiting the farm. Please see the letter here for further information.
• Year 5 Leicester Music Festival – Year 5 have an exciting opportunity to take part in the ‘Leics Make Music Summer Festival’ at De Montfort Hall and Gardens, celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. The date for this is Tuesday 21st June 2022. Please see the letter here for further information.
• Year 2 Conkers – As a reward for their amazing behaviour and focus during the Year 2 SATS, Year 2 will be going to Conkers. The trip will take place on Wednesday 22nd June 2022. Please see the letter here for further information.
• Year 1 Captivating Creatures Visit – ‘Captivating Creatures’ will be visiting our school and holding workshops on the environments that different animals live in on Thursday 23rd June 2022. Please see the letter here for further information.
• Year 5 Drayton Manor Trip – Year 5 will be visiting Drayton Manor Theme Park on Thursday 30th June as part of our ‘Innovative Inventions’ topic. Please see the letter here for further information.
• Nursery – The Little City visit for children in the Nursery will be on Wednesday 6^th July. For more information, please see here.
• Meet the Teacher Morning – Children across the school will spend a morning with their new teacher in their new classrooms on Tuesday 28^th June. Further information regarding your child’s new teacher will be sent in the coming weeks.
• Sports Days – Please see below the date of each year groups’ Sports Days. We are excited to announce that there will be a raffle for several luxury hampers – tickets for these will be available for purchase on each Sports Day. More information regarding these events will be sent to you via Seesaw:

 

Reminders:

• Reminders – heights and weights for Year 6 and Reception are being taken on Wednesday 15th June.

Club timetable:

• Y5/6 Girls’ Football – Friday after school.
• Y6 Boys’ Football – Monday after school.
• String Orchestra – Tuesday after school in the upstairs hall.
• Tri-Golf – Thursday 3.20-4.20pm for Y3 and Y4.
