Music opportunities

Links with Orchestras

The Philharmonia Orchestra is one of the resident orchestras at the de Montfort Hall where they perform regularly.

They offer a range of music education programmes, one of which is the 'Orchestra Unwrapped' project, which aims to introduce children to the orchestra in a fun and informative way. For the past 4 years, Mrs Bell has taken pupils from one year group to the de Montfort Hall to listen to and take part in the 'Orchestra Unwrapped' concert. The pupils learn an audience participation piece in music lessons in the lead up to the concert day, and then perform with hundreds of other pupils from primary and special schools across Leicester and Leicestershire, accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra. It really is a very exciting opportunity, that has inspired some of our pupils to take up learning an instrument.

Year 4 will be invited to attend the concert on Wednesday 1st April 2020. Further information will be sent out nearer the time.

In the meantime, please click here to find out more about the Orchestra Unwrapped project and here to find out more about the Philharmonia Orchestra.
